Upgrading to Watch OS 3.1, you might have noticed that the screenshot feature is gone.

Well, not gone – deactivated. You can turn it back on using the General Settings in the watch app on your phone.

The button combination to take a screenshot (pressing the digital crown and the side button at the same time) was given to easy access for pausing or restarting a workout. If you don’t need the workout shortcut (you can still access it from the workout screen), you can turn it off and recover the ability to take screenshots on the apple watch.

How To ReActivate the Apple Watch OS 3.1 Screenshot Feature

  1. Open the Watch app on the phone that is connected to your watch.
  2. Tap My Watch in the lower left corner (if it’s not already highlighted).
  3. Scroll down to General.
  4. Toggle on Enable Screen Shots. Apple Watch OS 3.1 Screenshot

Once you’ve enabled the screenshot feature (or if you are running Watch OS prior to 3.1), you press the digital crown and the side button at the same time. The photo will appear in the Screenshots album on your connected iPhone.
